Welcome to the Ladies' Section
The Ladies Section had been at the Hurstpierpoint Ploughing Match since 1967, providing us with the best refreshments, bacon sarnies, sausages and home-made and home-grown produce around
On Match Day, join us in the Marquee for competitions: a chance for all to show off their skills in craft and cookery.

Schedule 2007
 SECTION A:  OPEN TO ALL AGES

 1         Family size carrot cake - own recipe (topped)

 2         Swiss roll3 egg mixture with jam filling

 3         5 refrigerator slices

 4         3 iced Swiss buns

 5         Lemon tarthome-made pastry base

 6         5 sausage rolls

 7         Pineapple upside down pudding

 8         5 drop scones

 9         Box of home-made coconut ice

10        Jar of lemon curd

11         Jar of marmalade

12        Jar of chutneyany flavour

13        Selection of home grown produceedible and/or   

           ornamental, displayed in a suitable container 

14        What a whopper!preferably a vegetable!

15        Home-made peg bag 

16        Home-made lavender bag

17        Photographs (4 mounted on card)Four Seasons

           (photograph for 2008 – My favourite tree)

18        A perfect bloom

19        Floral arrangement in a cup and saucer

20          A vase/jug of flowers and foliage from garden and/or

              hedgerow – using any natural plant material
 
SECTION B: CHILDREN 4 years and under
21     Decorated plant pot

22        Make and decorate a party hat

23    Decorate a doughnut – to be judged on appearance only

 

SECTION C: CHILDREN 5 years to 8 years

24        Home-made junk jewellery using anything found in the home

25        Decorate a rubber glove

26       Seaside in a tray

27       3 Home-made biscuitsany type/any size

 
SECTION D: CHILDREN 9 Years to 14 Years

28        Soap carving - any size/any design

29        Make a bunch of flowers - using any material

30        Carve and decorate a squash or pumpkin

31        Handwrite and illustrate the first verse of

              All things bright and beautiful

32        Decorate a Birthday Cakeany size, judged on appearance

 
DOG SHOW - novelty classes - entries on the day (50p per class)
 
PARENTAL ASSISTANCE MUST BE KEPT TO A MINIMUM
 

Notes

Prize Cards will be awarded in each class

Challenge Cup presented for the most points in Section A

Challenge Cup & 1st, 2nd & 3rd Rosettes for the most points in Sections B, C & D (Children’s Classes)

Cash prizes for Children’s classes only: 1st - £1, 2nd - 75p, 3rd - 50p.

Prize Money may be collected between 3 - 4 p.m.            

Presentation of Cups and Prizes at 3 p.m.

No exhibits to be removed before 3 p.m.

 

Rules

1 All Exhibits to be STAGED AND READY to be judged by 10.15 a.m. on the morning of the Show. Judging is expected to be completed by approximately 12.30 p.m.

2 No Exhibitor to have more than 1 entry in any 1 class.

3 Any Competitor wishing to protest against infringements of the Rules must do so, in writing, to the Ladies Entries steward on the Ground before 2.30 p.m. on the day of the Show.

4 Care will be taken with Exhibits, but the Committee will not be responsible for any loss or damage.  All edible entries should be covered by the Exhibitor.

5 Where there are less than 3 entries in 1 class, prizes will be awarded at the discretion of the Judges.

6 Any points not covered by the Rules will be decided by the Committee.

Essential information

The Match will be held at Hook House Farm in Isaacs Lane, Burgess Hill on 4th Oct 2008

Ploughing commences at 9am

There are lunches, food, licensed bar, trade stands, competitions and much more at the show.

Results
2008: Silage and hayledge results are in. Winners are Dutton Partners, Harold Turner, Steve Franklyn and Andrew Elliott.
