What's on?

Usually 3 or 4 teams of horses
Horse ploughing is a particularly attractive part of the Hurst Ploughing Match. It brings back memories of 'Olde England'! It is great to watch, there is interaction between the people and animals, and it's a good chance to see some fine Ploughing Shire horses. Make sure you give your hearty support on the Day. Good luck you horse ploughmen (or to be PC plough-people) - and let's pray for some softer ground this year! For more information on Shire Horse Ploughing, visit the South-East Shire Horse Association (SESHA) Website: www.south-eastern-shires.org.uk

Ladies' and Children's Section
This section was established in 1967, especially for the ladies. Now there are children's classes included. Children have the chance to put their craft skills to the test in the children's craft classes. And there is a section specially made for all ages for those house wives and husbands alike, who would like to put their culinary skills to the test. For more details please see our Ladies' Section Page.

Licensed Bar and Food available
Feeling a little peckish? There are hot-dogs and bacon-sandwiches available in the Ladies' Section tent from breakfast-time. There are also sandwiches and sweets available.. Thirsty? There are soft drinks available, and tea and coffee, too. Then there is the licenced bar for those of us who fancy something a little stronger!

Vintage Tractors
Vintage tractors are good to see - they have character. You may realise how much more of an art it was ploughing with many less of the gadgets which are available today!

Hedge Laying
When the conditions are right, there is the chance to witness the Hedge Layers at work. Watching these crafters sculpt the hedges is like seeing an artist at work - everything is done with precision to make an ordinary hedge-row look just right (it keeps animals in as well)!!

Stationary Engines
Often appear at the Show. These are quite fascinating to watch. The way the components move with such precision, and each having its own job. These stationary engines are examples of some of the great things on at the Show.

Raffle
The first prize is £100. And many prizes including whiskey, wine and various others.
